Hidden Files (1) Open My Computer, and select Options from the View menu (or the Tools menu in Windows Me/2000/XP).

(2) Click on the View tab, choose Show all files, and press OK.

in Windows XP Home Edition

To remove MS Messenger in Windows XP Home edition, enter the
following run comand, then reboot
"RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"

You will probably also want to turn it off in Outlook and Outlook Express.

Messenger in Windows XP Pro 1) Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC
2) For "per machine" restriction, go to Computer Configuration,
Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Messenger
For "per user" restriction, go to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Messenger
3) You can now modify whether it starts initially and/or whether its to run at all.
