A Comprehensive PSP Methodology

For many (too many, in my opinion), Preventative Service Planning is an ongoing cumbersome manual effort. It need not be so. I developed this methodology and the requisite tools to make it work in 2000-2001, and have been using them since then. It is well suited for small-medium sized zOS shops, where the structure of the CSI is simple and straightforward.

The basis of the methodology is this: Periodically (weekly, monthly, quarterly) we wish to apply recommended service comprised of sysmods which meet the criteria of:
a. not already installed in our CSI.
b. germane to our product mix
c. are at least n days old (we normally don't want to install as part of PSP those sysmods which were posted yesterday.)

This methodology is moderately automated, and in my experience, is not always well-received by Luddites who believe that PSP must, by definition, be a manual exercise!
