Domestic Violence (n) A pattern of physically, sexually, and/or emotionally abusive behaviors used by one individual to maintain power over or control a partner in the context of an intimate or family relationship. The controlling behaviour can include assault, threats, sexual abuse, humiliation (put downs), financial exploitation and social isolation, such as not allowing contact with family or friends.
