Once upon a time, 90% of all programmers wrote computer programs on coding forms, and the programmers (99% all men) would give the coding forms to a secretary (99% all women) to type up on punch cards which would be subsequently fed into a card reader. Although the 7040 and 7090 processors, c1959-62 were before my time, there was a period when I used 370 Assembler and COBOL coding forms. We have all come a long way, baby. |
